Fortress Investment Group Serves a Diverse Group of Assets and Investment Interests

Fortress Investment Group was the first private equity group of any scale to become a New York Stock Exchange public listing. This set the stage for the firm in terms of a trendsetting company. It currently is worldwide, with an investors’ base of 1,750, an asset portfolio of more than $40 billion and 900 employees.

Its core management method is in-the-field awareness of the current environment. Its assets are widely diverse and cover capital and real estate. Fortress Investment Group dedicates much of its time to consistent and up-to-date study of the market and derived strategies for the long term.

Fortress has been in operation for 20 years, during which time it has become conversant in the terms of mergers and acquisitions and come to be on a personal level with an extensive set of corporate and management representatives and corporate investors. Heads of the company are Randal Nardone, Wes Edens and PeterBriger. Mr. Nardone and Mr. Edens founded Fortress Investment Group along with now-retired Rob Kauffman. All three were seasoned financial experts from the likes of Lehman, UBS and Goldman Sachs.

The company quickly set to work implementing industry-standard investing strategies, such as the Fortress Investment Fund I, building an asset value of $32.6 billion. The group set out to work hard and establish itself while attracting enough investment interest to make an IPO (Initial Public Offering). The Fortress Investment Group team also went to work expanding its collection of investing vehicles, such as new versions of the initial Fund I as well as the Drawbridge Special Opportunities and Long Dated Value Funds.

Fortress Investment Group was finally bought out in 2017 by Softbank Group Corporation, a Tokyo-based multinational, while the company’s principals continued to run the company from its base in New York. The company also began to shift its portfolio to new information-specialized technology, green energy and artificial intelligence.

Fortress Investment Group now consists of three divisions. Private Equity works to generate asset-based cash flow in transportation and energy. Credit focuses on undervalued assets and distressed investments. Permanent Capital Vehicles is a group of premier, publicly-traded capital vehicles, based largely in real estate, media and transportation.
